Lagangilang, Abra – A man who killed his friend due to intoxication on Tuesday, November 29, in Lagangilang, Abra is now the subject of a manhunt operation launched by authorities.
The suspect – a former OFW whose name was withheld shot Edcel Mangma to death around 4 PM on said date at the compound of a certain Reden Bragas in Sitio Bayay, Cayapa, Lagangilang.
In the investigation made by police, the two, along with their two other companions, were having a drinking spree in the said compound when the incident happened.
Prior to their drinking session at the place of the incident, the group had their drinking session at Sitio Palpalitpit in the same barangay before transferring to the area to continue drinking liquor.
“Nagiinum da pay iday Sitio Palpalitpit, immalis da. Accordingly, idi makaibus da iti tallu nga bote nga gin ken 2 by 2, immalis da idiay ayan ti crime scene, idiay da nga intuloy nga imminum,” a police officer stated in his interview with Abra TV.
Accordingly, while the suspect was sleeping, the victim tried to wake him up and when he did, he suddenly shot Mangma in the face.
Mangma sustained several gunshot wounds in his head, resulting in his immediate death.
He was even ferried to the Abra Provincial Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
On the motive of the crime, the witnesses said they can not think of any motive since the two are friends and never had a fight before.
Meantime, police said a caliber 45 gun was used in the killing based on recovered bullets at the crime scene.
