Drunk rider faces 2 charges after passing a checkpoint

Tinglayan, Kalinga—An intoxicated rider passing a checkpoint in Iker, Bugnay ended up in the hands of authorities on June 24, after allegedly committing two violations.


The Kalinga Police Provincial Office reported that the man, 30, from Saclit, Sadanga, was about to pass by an anti-criminality and quarantine checkpoint in Ikker, Bugnay when he was flagged down.


The uniformed personnel noticed that he is intoxicated, and when he stopped, the police saw a gun in his half-opened sling bag. This prompted them to check, and since he failed to show a firearm registration paper, he was arrested.


Seized from the suspect are a Caliber 45 Pistol, two magazines, and 12 live ammunition.

He was brought to the Tinglayan Municipal Police Station for documentation and proper disposition.


He will be facing charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and RA 10586 or the Anti-Drunk and Drugged Driving Act of 2013.
