City, Kalinga – Two individuals were admitted at the hospital after a mini dump truck fell into a ravine in Sitio Banong in Barangay Naneng Sunday evening, April 10, 2022.

The mini dump truck was ferrying 10 individuals including the driver who was identified as Martin Macad Lagui-ao, 39, a resident of Bugnay, Tinglayan.

An investigation by the Tabuk police disclosed that the mini dump truck came from Bulanao and was heading to Tinglayan. However, while travelling the Kalinga-Mt. Province National Road in Sitio Banong, the vehicle suddenly encroached the opposite lane and went straight to the outer road side until it slipped falling off the road.

Luckily, the mini dump truck was said to have fallen around 4 meters deep into the ravine before it was prevented by a coffee tree from falling further.

The driver claimed that he was driving slowly but the steering wheel suddenly locked until the vehicle went out of control. He asserted that he hit the brakes but it was too late.

Concerned citizens rushed all the occupants of the vehicle to the Kalinga Provincial Hospital. Two of the occupants identified as Arnold Alunday, 35, and Deniel Ongat, 34, were admitted at the hospital and the rest have been discharged.
