FINAL GOODBYE: Patrolman Baggay laid to rest in Pinukpuk, Kalinga

Pinukpuk, Kalinga – The fallen iKalinga police officer, Patrolman Harwin Curtney Baggay, was finally laid to rest in his birth town, Pinukpuk today, July 9, 2025.

 

Baggay, who had been in the police service for three years, was buried in Taga, Pinukpuk Wednesday morning. He received the traditional honorary rites from the Philippine National Police as a final tribute and respect for his heroism and bravery.

The Kalinga Police Provincial Director, PCol. James Mangili personally attended the ceremony and led the cops in paying their final respect to their fallen comrade.

 

Mangili turned over the folded Philippine flag to Baggay’s mother, saying, “…daytoy iti maysa nga simbolo iti nadayaw nga panagserbisyo na nga kas maysa a membro iti Philippine National Police. Ket iti entero a kapulisan ket iyebkas mi iti panakiladingit mi… Ket sapay kuma ta ni Apo Diyos iti mangtarabay ken mangbendisyon kadakayo a pamilya.”

 

28-year-old Baggay lost his life while responding to an armed robbery in Quezon City on June 30 where he was shot by the suspect who at the time already killed his victim. The gunman was also shot by Baggay’s buddy. Baggay was earlier awarded with the ‘Medalya ng Kadakilaan’ by PNP Chief, PGen. Nicolas Torre III.
