Solana, Cagayan - Four bodies were found in separate areas in Cagayan, believed to be victims of drowning.

The dead bodies were all discovered on July 20, but reports did not say whether these deaths were related to Tropical Storm “Crising,” which recently affected the province.

According to reports by local media outlets, one of the drowning incidents happened in Alcala involving two siblings who attempted to save their carabao grazing near a river. Their attempt failed, and they drowned. The victims, whose identities were withheld, were already dead when retrieved by the authorities hours later.

In Solana, a naked body of a man, believed to be about 50 to 60 years old, was found by the fishermen floating in the river while setting up their net. Upon checking, the body was already lifeless. Authorities, upon notification, quickly proceeded to the location and brought the body to a funeral home in Barangay Basi East. The victim is yet to be identified.

The fourth body was discovered at a riverbank in Enrile on the same day as the others at around 2:30 p.m.

The victim was identified as a 63-year-old man named Pido. Pido’s cousin told XFM-Santiago that the old man had been suffering from depression due to his prostate cancer and had attempted to take his own life in 2023.

Pido’s body is now at his brother’s residence for his wake.

Though the bodies were found shortly after the onslaught of Crising in Northern Luzon last week, there is no confirmation from the authorities if the storm had anything to do with the deaths. As of this writing, authorities are still investigating the cases.
