Gattaran Cagayan mayor charged with murder over death of Abra businessman

Cagayan, Philippines – Mayor Mathew Nolasco of Gattaran, Cagayan has been charged with murder along with 6 others over the death of a businessman from Abra.


Nolasco, along with Joles Salvatierra, Mateo De Torres, Jofel Alipio, and three others, has been accused of killing 29-year-old Jefferson Torricer from Penarobia, Abra on December 5, according to a report by the Cagayan Provincial Information Office.


The suspects were charged after witnesses submitted their affidavit at the Provincial Prosecutor's Office in Carig Sur, Tuguegarao City.

Meantime, it could be recalled that the victim’s sister, Jill Ivy Torricer, during her interview with CPIO Tele-Radyo, narrated that the victim was only on a vacation to visit his family in Cullit, Cagayan.


On December 5, it was then the siblings decided to go to a resto-bar in Lal-lo. However, Jefferson was said to have encountered a certain group and had an argument with them before he was allegedly shot to death.

The family already asked for help from the Regional Prosecutor's Office in order to get justice for the death of Jefferson.
