Gov. Tubban gets nod from the Sangguniang Panlalawigan to donate over 1.4M to typhoon victims

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Kalinga Province has given the authority to Governor Ferdinand Tubban to donate financial assistance amounting to P1,425,000.00 to the provinces of Albay, Catanduanes, Aurora, Marinduque, Cagayan and Isabela and to Covid-affected families who are residing in Itogon Benguet.


Kalinga Governor Ferdinand B. Tubban mentioned helping these provinces on Monday during his talk during the first day of the Local Risk Reduction and Management Planning activity of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management.


Tubban likewise added that it is important for neighbors to help each especially during these times of calamities.


Earlier Tubban mentioned about this plan of the Kalinga PLGU to help out provinces which suffered much from the recent typhoons which hit the country, citing the willingness of the Kalinga SP to work on a resolution to make it happen.


In Resolutions No. 2020-230 and 2020-231 of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Kalinga dated November 17, 2020, an amount of P200,000.00 each will be given to the provinces affected by the recent typhoons, while Ykalingas who are in Itogon, Benguet affected by Covid-19 are to receive a total amount of P225,000.00.


The assistance shall be charged from the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund of the province for Fiscal Year 2020.


It could be recalled that during the onslaught of Typhoon Rolly, the provinces of Albay, Catanduanes, Aurora, and Marinduque suffered devastation. Meanwhile, Cagayan and Isabela experienced a once in “100 years” flooding which resulted to injuries, casualties, and severe damages to properties, infrastracture and agriculture due to Typhoon Ulysses.


State of Calamity is also declared in Isabela and Cagayan as a result of the onslaught of Typhoon Ulysses.


Tubban, on Monday, asked that yKalingas in Itogon be included as beneficiaries of a financial assistance since their livelihood was severely affected by lockdowns imposed, particularly on Barangay Ampucao, Virac and Poblacion after a sudden surge of virus transpired.


The Governor, in a follow-up interview, said he lauds the move of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan for their quick response.


“Kas kunak idi immuna, managtulong met ti Sangguniang Panlalawigan members tayo and are ever ready to help. Isunga nga napaspas diay naaramid nga resolution. And now we can proceed diay panangdeliver tayo iti tulong ti Province of Kalinga kadagiti agkasapulan kasta met kadagiti kailyan tayo idiay Itogon,” said Tubban.
