Kalinga PLGU decides to give over 1M cash assistance to help typhoon victims

Tabuk City, Kalinga – “Mas mayat nu datayo agited uray nu bassit ket dakkel to nu maurnong. I am thankful to God that Kalinga was spared from destruction, and thus it is but right nga agyaman tayo babaen ti panagtulong,” said Kalinga Governor Ferdinand Tubban while delivering a talk in a 5-day disaster preparedness and response plan training of participants from all municipalities and the city of the province this November 16, 2020.


Tubban revealed that the Kalinga PLGU is already working on processing donations amounting to over a million pesos for Catanduanes, Albay, Cagayan and Isabela.


He likewise mentioned of providing assistance to Itogon and and Tuguegarao explaining that normally the LGUs have their organization or called leagues, and thus the League of Provinces normally aid each other as the League of City and/or Municipalities also assist each other.


The assistance shall be deliberated by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan wherein a resolution shall be made to authorize the governor to proceed with the donation.


“Agayaman tayo kadagiti nagagaget nga members ti Sangguniang Panlalawigan because they too understand the necessity to help. With their resolution, maiyaramid tayo daytoy,” Tubban said.


Kalinga province on the weekend sent a contingency team of 59 uniformed men to Cagayan as augmentation for rescue and relief operations and some food items, while DSWD Region and Province delivered family food packs Sunday to provide for families not yet reached.


In an interview, the Governor acknowledged the help of other private individuals and organizations for showing a kind heart and demonstrating to other provinces that the Ykalingas sympathize with them, “we are aware of their situation and we are doing something. Not only the provincial government but the people of Kalinga as a whole.”


Tubban, meantime, lauded the move of other LCEs in the province likewise the help of Congressman Allen Jesse Mangaoang.


“Agtitinnulong tayo amin, not just so people will say that we helped but because we know it is the right thing to do,” he said.
