Tabuk City, Kalinga – Governor Ferdinand Tubban on Friday, April 9, 2021, commended the efforts and services of frontliners, whom he refers as modern heroes on his speech during the Day of Valor and Philippine Veteran’s Week observation.

In his speech aired on radio stations, Tubban cited that heroism and bravery could not only be shown through physically involving themselves in war with the use of guns and swords, but could also be manifested in other ways like what the frontliners are undertaking to stop the spread of Covid-19.

In fighting an unseen enemy, he said that the unselfish acts of these individuals who prioritized serving their fellowmen and taking the risk, is also showing bravery.

Message for Ykalingas

For Ykalingas, the governor said they can also show their bravery and express their love through their support and cooperation in joining the battle against the pandemic.

This, he said, could be shown by helping the frontliners even in small ways and by teaching their children the importance and power of discipline, especially in applying the Covid-19 health protocols in their daily lives.

“Let us be reminded that because of the acts of valor our ancestors have showed in the past, we are here today, facing our own fight, let their “kagitingan” rule upon us. Let as assure them that their sacrifices saving the nation were all worth it not only for today, but for the future generations,” he said.

“Let us altogether awaken the “Kagitingan” that lives within the heart of Ykalingas. If our ancestors did it, then united we can,” he concluded.
