Gov. Tubban leads ocular inspection in flood-prone areas in Kalinga

Tabuk City, Kalinga – To assess the current situation and reinforce prevention measures in areas prone to landslides and floods, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC) led by Governor Ferdinand Tubban conducted an ocular inspection this October 12, 2021.


Provincial Information Office, in a press release, said the monitoring team headed at the ‘Chico River Line covering Barangays Sucbot, Cabaruan, boundary of Magaogao, and the strip line of Bulanao to Dagupan Tabuk City.’


During the inspection, the team observed ‘rise of water level, and strong river current in said areas.'


According to the office, the flood control in Cabaruan ‘was damaged, and some of the rice crops in the barangays nearby were also destroyed.’


The community was advised to stay away from Chico River to avoid accidents.


“All that is observed and assessed were put into documentation, and in writing for future reference and endorsement to concerned departments, and LGU for improvement,” the information office stated.

It was earlier reported that there are no major untoward incidents and all roads in the province remain open.


Governor Tubban affirmed that rescue, relief and response teams are prepared for possible negative effects.


Tubban likewise posted that food packs and non-food items are ready to be distributed in case the need arises.
