Tabuk City, Kalinga – The rainy season is around the corner; wet days are coming, and we better be ready, says PAGASA.

On May 30, the state weather bureau, PAGASA, announced the start of the Southwest Monsoon or the Habagat season, which is characterized by rainy and humid weather.

PAGASA wrote that the weakening of the Easterlies, the wind blowing from the east, signifies the beginning of the Habagat. This development likely leads to the start of this year’s rainy season within the next two weeks.

“This may lead to the possible onset of the rainy season within the next two (2) weeks. Periods of monsoon breaks may also occur,” PAGASA wrote.

With the start of the Habagat, the weather state bureau advises the public to take precautionary measures against its unfavorable effects. Additionally, it is not only problems on road conditions and possible natural calamities that can happen, but also health concerns and illnesses that may tag along with it.

“PAGASA will continue to monitor the weather situation of the country. The public and all concerned agencies are advised to take precautionary measures against the adverse impacts of the Habagat, such as floods and rain-induced landslides,” the agency said.
