Authored by Councilor Zorayda Wacnang, the proposed ordinance covers the establishment of procedures in claiming hazard pay which include identifying the personnel assigned to hazardous areas and exposed to occupational risks, duration of exposure and documentary requirements.

According to Wacnang, the grant of hazard pay intends to provide an additional compensation for those performing hazardous duties and for enduring physical hardships in the course of the performance of duties.

It applies to all registered social workers and public social welfare and development workers, rendering services on full-time or part-time basis whether permanent, casual or contractual positions.

Moreover, the City Social Welfare Development Office in coordination with the City Human Resources Office will be in-charge for the identification of beneficiaries or the personnel exposed to hazards.

Hence, PSWs and PSWDs who have rendered actual work in hazardous areas will be compensated with hazard pay equivalent to 20% of their basic salary.
