Rizal, Kalinga - The Juan M. Duyan Memorial District Hospital (JMDMDH) in Rizal, Kalinga is now able to provide patients access to needed laboratory tests 24/7.

This was announced by JMDMDH Chief OIC Dr. Jun Beda Malecdan during the groundbreaking ceremony of the hospital’s new building in Rizal on Wednesday, March 22, 2023.

“I also want to promote the programs of the hospital since Juan M. Duyan Hospital is now providing 24/7 laboratory services with expanded laboratory workouts. So hindi na lang CBC and urine test ang prino- provide,” Malecdan said.

This means that patients needing emergency laboratory testing at any time of the day will be served and need not wait for certain hours for medical facilities to open.

In another interview on the same day, JMDMDH Medical Officer Dr. Angelica Rizelle Odiem informed that their laboratory testing samples include Complete blood count (CBC), fecalysis, urinalysis, Random blood sugar (RBS) test, fasting blood sugar, creatinine test, blood chemistry, and lipid profile.

“Ang kulang na lang namin is yung cerum electrolytes, sodium, potassium… pero malapit na rin (natin i-accommodate). Pero so far yung mga super basic na kailangan natin to treat a patient (ay) meron na,” she disclosed.

The doctor added that the service would also be a great help to attending physicians for the immediate diagnosis of their patient’s condition and/or monitoring disease over time.

“Sa aming mga doctors, mas easier yung taking care of patients kasi halos kumpleto na po,” she said further stating that the additional service has started since February this year.

Aside from the 24-hour lab test, the hospital’s pharmacy has also been operating 24/7 since early this year catering not just to in-patients but to everyone looking for needed medicines.

Included in their upgrading is their 16-hour billing section where patients can pay their hospital bills from 8 in the morning until 12 midnight.

Meantime, Doctor Malecdan said the improvement of their services is attributed to the "governor (James Edduba) and vice governor (Jocel Baac) for augmenting us with manpower through our job order (ket) sapay kuma nga ma-renew dagitoy J.O tayo ditoy hospital.”

“With that, I have all the confidence that Juan M. Duyan hospital is destined to achieve greater heights of accomplishments,” he concluded.
