How will Kalinga ex-rebel spend his P165K E-CLIP aid?

Tabuk City, Kalinga – During the awarding of the P165,000 cheque to a former member of the Communist Party of the Philippines - New People’s Army today, May 7, the ex-rebel said he shall use the money he received to venture into some business although he forgot what kind of business he was thinking of doing prior to receiving the grant.


Surrenderers can be given cash aid from the government as a way to help them begin their new life.

The cheque awarded to the rebel returnee is composed of P15,000 immediate assistance, P50,000 livelihood and P100,000 remuneration of the firearm he turned over to the authorities during his surrender.


With the assistance provided, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Rose Oyawon said that the recipient shall establish a livelihood project he is interested in and that he will be oriented on how he will run his proposed business.

Oyawon added that the returnee's livelihood project will be monitored by the PSWDO and the Philippine Army in Kalinga who were deputized through the Executive Order of the previous administration to monitor.


The assistance is funded by the the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program of the government which provides a package of aid such as immediate and livelihood assistance among others.


The ex-rebel surrendered in the province in 2020.

With the various aids coming from different government agencies, PNP Provincial Director Police Col. Davy Limmong urged the remaining individuals in the movement to surrender and take advantage of this offer from the government.


“We are calling on them to better surrender and to come and live a normal life with us. [You]Take advantage ken daytoy E-CLIP and the benefits the government is offering ta haan tayo ammu nu addan tu pay iti government nga ituloy- tuloy na pay daytoy,” Limmong said.


Limmong added that there is no reason for the rebels to remain in the mountains, “awanen iti rason nga ag-stay da pay idiay, so they come and cooperate so that we could all live a normal life.”
