iLubuagan daycare worker is among Cordillera’s best 4Ps parent-leaders

Lubuagan, Kalinga ─ With her exemplary deed as volunteer amidst the risk of the pandemic, Ms. Grace Paredes, Daycare worker of Barangay Lower Uma, Lubuagan is recognized as fourth among the top 5 Best Parent-Leaders of the Cordillera Region by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-Cordillera.


Held on June 10, the search is in celebration of the 2nd Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) Law Anniversary which aims to recognize outstanding Pantawid Pamilya Parent-Leaders who volunteer and foster as models of excellence in their households, groups, and communities.


The five Best Parent Leaders (PLs) recognized were Pacita Antonio from Baguio City ranked as first, Junia Paluwan from Mountain Province as second, Rodella Cabrera from Abra as third, and Maribel Sotelo from Apayao as fifth.


Winners were selected based on several criteria that include performance on innovative practices and efficiency and effectiveness, output on benefits and services, and influence and inspiration on role modeling.


Belia Onalan, Project Development Officer II of Pantawid Program, disclosed the accomplishments of Grace Paredes such as setting up a community garden, assisting in repacking family food packs, serving in barangay checkpoint, and helping in the construction of temporary quarantine facility in Barangay Lower Uma.

In addition, as a responsible parent-leader, she initiates the delivery of forwarded monthly topics under the Pantawid program and strategized ways of discussing with recipients considering the restrictions of the pandemic.


As a daycare worker, Grace’s records showed no stagnant on implementing the feeding program from the municipal government.


Her accomplishments were submitted to the region to serve as a basis for the recognition, certified by the Barangay and Municipal local government units.


Meantime, Grace Paredes will receive a certificate of recognition and cash prize from DSWD-CAR.


As of May 2021, there are 586 Pantawid beneficiaries and 23 parent-leaders in the Municipality of Lubuagan.
