At only 16, Alexander Tagure Jr. has brought glory to the Province of Kalinga through the gold medals he has won in regional and national combative competitions. Now, he is set to conquer a prestigious international competition – the only problem is the financial constraints.

Alexander, the undefeated young fighter from Tabuk City, Kalinga was chosen by the Philippine Mixed Martial Arts Federation to represent the country in the IMMAF (International Mixed Martial Arts Federation) Youth World MMA Championships in Abu Dhabi on July 20 – 27, 2025.

The 16-year-old earned the spot through his impressive sports track record which includes a gold medal in the 2023 Palarong Pambansa Wushu Sanda; gold in 2024 Batang Pinoy Wushu Sanda; 3 gold in Muay Thai national; Most Promising Muay Thai athlete; gold in 2024 Kickboxing national Championships; Best Junior Kickboxer; gold in Team Lakay Grapples Cup; and gold in Northern International jiu-jitsu championships.

While he has what it takes to represent the country in the IMMAF Youth World MMA Championships - a global amateur mixed martial arts competition which showcases the next generation of MMA fighters, Alexander is held back by financial challenges as his parents could not finance his plane ticket, visa processing, and accommodation for the competition.

To help send Alexander to the international competition, anyone can show support for the 16-year-old iKalinga fighter by joining the ‘Run for the Dreamer’ on Saturday, June 28. The event will involve a 5-kilometer run from Tribu Banwar gym at Block 3, Purok 6, Bulanao to the Kintoman Rice Mill in Magsaysay.

Registration fee for students is P100.00, while adults may give any amount. Payments can be made on site at Tribu Banwar gym, or it can be sent in advance through Coach Erwin Tagure’s GCash, 09691837810.
