Tabuk City, Kalinga – The personnel of the Kalinga Police Provincial Forensic Unit decided to forego having a fancy Christmas Party and instead use some of their personal resources to extend aid to economically challenged children in the province on December 14 and 15, 2022.

Police Captain Benedict Bartolome, Kalinga Police Provincial Forensic Unit Chief Admin, conveyed that the activity is part of their outreach program to share joy and blessings with the people this Yuletide season.

11-year-old beneficiary

One of the unit’s beneficiaries is an 11-year-old Edrian Busania in Barangay Balong who is suffering from cerebral palsy. The unit provided some of his necessities and some goods for his family on December 15. The personnel also fixed the kid’s wheelchair.

Edrian’s mom, Melody, said he has been suffering from seizures since he was about a year old. They had to stop Edrian’s medication when he was four as it made him restless.

She also relayed that her son would often have seizures when he is not feeling well. Due to financial constraints, they could not bring Edrian for a check-up.

Melody is a housewife while her husband is a laborer with income just enough for their family’s daily needs.

Melody could not be more thankful to the assistance extended by the police as it is a huge help to them, “nagdakkel daytoy nga tulong kanyami nga pamilya kasi haan isuna agdi-diaper nu awan maigatang min.”

Other beneficiaries

Apart from Edrian, 20 students from the Kalinga National High School also received assorted groceries from the Kalinga Police Provincial Forensic Unit on December 14. These selected beneficiaries were grade 11 learners.
