Tabuk City, Kalinga – Kalinga police assure there is nothing to worry about the implementation of the ‘Dumanon Makitungtung’ strategy to known members of communist front organizations as it will be peacefully done with the presence of religious sectors, local government unit and the media.
Dumanon Makitungtung is a newly crafted strategy of the Cordillera Regional Law Enforcement Coordinating Council that was formed through a resolution that was adopted by the Cordillera Regional Peace and Order Council.
Said scheme is anchored from the Cordilleran culture of ‘Dap-ayan or Dap-ay’ where the community gathers to talk and resolve issues and concerns.
In an interview with Kalinga Police Director, Police Colonel Davy Vicente Limmong, he explained that with ‘Dumanon Makitungtung’, law enforcers together with the local government unit, religious sector, and the media, will peacefully visit and talk with identified members of the communist front organizations to enlighten them and persuade them to turn their back and stop supporting the CPP-NPA.
Limmong assures that they have nothing to fear in the implementation since it is a multi-sectoral approach and the purpose is to only talk and discuss.
“Anya kabuteng da ket ka-barangay da met diay mapan? Tapos iti kadwa iti pulis ket religious group or media. Awan pagdanagan da idiay ta umay da met makitungtung laeng, awan met makita mi a pagdanagan da ta haan met nga application of search warrant or warrant of arrest dayta. Nu talaga a tama diay issues nga ipar-parang da, let us discuss nu tama,” he said.
As of now, Limmong said that they are still identifying the personalities and coordinating with the barangay officials for the organization of the team who will go and visit the personalities.
Meanwhile, in an earlier statement, Philippine National Police Chief General Guillermo Eleazar appreciated the Cordillera RPOC for the new idea introduced to address insurgency.
“On the part of the PNP, we will provide assistance in a way that will strike a balance between our collective goal of defeating the CPP-NPA-NDF and our commitment to respect and uphold the basic human rights of every Filipino,” he added, stating he already instructed the Cordillera Regional Police Director for the matter.
