Tabuk City, Kalinga – Awaiting their turn for the Covid-19 vaccination, all personnel of the Kalinga Police Provincial Office (KPPO) affirmed their support to get the jab once vaccines are available for them.

KPPO Director PCol. Davy Vicente Limmong said there are 850 uniformed personnel of the Philippine National Police in Kalinga while 48 are non-uniformed personnel.

Limmong said that at first, the personnel agreed to be vaccinated but some has their vaccine preferences. But just lately they agreed to be inoculated with any vaccine available which the FDA approved since they are confident that they are all safe.

“Actually, iti whole Kalinga, inala mi amin iti [responses], willing da metten aminen. Although, dagiay daduma nagpili lang iti kayat da a vaccine ngem kunada met idi bandang huli ket nu anya iti available ket sige,” he said.

Meantime, Limmong said that there were 15 personnel who already received the vaccine last March 17. These personnel are the Medical Reserve Force of KPPO that attend to the Covid-19 patients.

As for the rest, Limmong said, they will wait for their turn for the vaccine, “as long as haan kami na-identify pay idiay list of priority, haan a dapat,” he said.

The Kalinga police provincial director is then encouraging others to receive the vaccine if given the chance, given the situation that Covid-19 cases are increasing and hospitals in the country are struggling to accommodate Covid-19 patients.

“Take advantage ditoy available nga i-offer da a vaccine ... dapat kuma ag-avail tayo ta ni nabayagen nga agur-uray tayo iti vaccine ket sapay kuma ta nu umay ket agpa-vaccinate tayo kuma tapnu maiwasan daytoy, karkaru daytoy mortality gapu iti Covid-19,” he said.

As of this writing, there are seven PNP listed as Covid-19 active cases in the province. Limmong said they are currently isolated at the Provincial Head Quarters. Moreover, there are 65 cumulative number of PNP personnel in the province who caught the virus since last year.
