Kalinga Provincial Hospital imposes partial lockdown

Tabuk City, Kalinga – The Kalinga Provincial Hospital is under partial lockdown for 10 days, according to a public advisory made on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 as a preventive measure in view to control the possible spread of the Covid-19 virus due to the swab test result of a patient admitted there.

On November 15, a patient who was admitted due to Pleural Effusion was transferred to Cagayan Valley Medical Center on December 1, 2020 in the nearby province as his condition worsened. It was there that he was found out to be positive of the Covid-19 virus.

Contact tracing was immediately conducted which resulted into 41 personnel having been in contact with the patient while he was undergoing his medical treatment.

Said personnel have been swab-tested for RT-PCR, but results are still underway.

The services of the Pediatrics Department in admission of pedia patients will then be temporarily unavailable during the duration of the lockdown. Suspension of daily check-up for non-emergency cases at the Outpatient Department was also decided.

However, previously-admitted patients in need of follow up and patients with extreme emergency cases will be prioritized.

The OB-Gyne Department will also limit its admission for 5 days to give way for the contact tracing and proper disinfection of the affected wards and other areas of the hospital.

Yesterday, the province has recorded 31 Covid-19 confirmed cases - the highest number ever recorded in a day since the province had its first case in July.

As of this writing, the province has already recorded a total of 398 cases. 102 of these are active, 295 have already recovered, and 1 Covid-19 related death.
