Kalinga PSWDO assists 1,672 yKalingas in 2020

Despite the pandemic, the Kalinga Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office was able to provide various government services, assisting around 1,672 vulnerable and disadvantaged yKalingas’ last year.


Anchored on the S.H.A.R.E.D governance guiding principle of the Tubban Administration, Social Welfare Officer III Lilian B. Lagasi, in an interview, said that focus was given to the senior citizens and families in dire need since they require more attention, especially in helping them cope with the crisis brought about by the pandemic.

Programs were also delivered such as Burial Assistance, Counseling Services, Phil Health Para sa Masa, Educational Assistance to Out of School Youth, Social Assistance to Persons with Disabilities, Assistance for Physical Restoration to Person with Disabilities, Educational Assistance for Person with Disability, Social Pension for Indigent Senior Citizens, and Assistance for Physical Restoration for Senior Citizens to qualified beneficiaries.


“Adda ti requirements a kasla a pang-support tapnu mai-process dagiyay papel da karkaru dagituy financial assistance, like medical abstract, barangay certification that they are indigent,” explains Lagasi.



She further shared that among the individuals who benefited from the program were either given one-time service, pensions and continued medication for those with chronic illness.

“Adda dagiyay one time service nga inmay da ta nagsakit da, a pirmi a kasapulan da. Adda met dagituy chronic illness nga agsubli-subli ta talaga nga i-maintain mi isuda nga ikkan provided that umay da agparang.”


Despite the occurrence of pandemic, all clients who came to the office, she said, were assisted, served and referred to the Office of the Governor and DSWD-CAR for additional assistance if needed.

The PSWDO, under the administration of Governor Ferdinand Tubban, vows to continue helping the less fortunate families under the SHARED governance principle.
