PHO says regular health services are continuously being provided

Updated: Apr 22, 2021

Tabuk City, Kalinga –the Provincial Health Officer (PHO) is reminding the public that essential health services are continuously being provided at the different public health facilities in the province, despite the pandemic.

According to PHO Dr. Edward Tandingan, though some health services were put on hold at some point during the pandemic, the regular health programs are now resumed.

“We wish to emphasize, taking the UHC [Universal Health Service] as an example, that because of Covid, talagang naantala ‘yung other services but our government still mandates us to provide the essential health services,” he said.

“Adu iti issuances iti Department of Health mandating our health workers, our health system, our health staff na ipagpatuloy pa rin ‘yung regular programs. So walang rason na hindi dapat maibigay ang essential health sevices,” he added.

With this, Tandingan informs the people not to hesitate to visit health facilities for their maintenance and check up. However, if they go out from their houses they have to be very careful in complying the minimum public health standards given the Covid-19 situation.

“Nais lang sana nating sabihin sa mga kailyan a haan kayo nga agkedked a mapan iti health facilities nu adda iti marikrikna yu or for your maintenance, daytoy for example diay regular a panagbakuna, dagiyay mothers a masapul da agpa-prenatal check up wennu post partum check up,” he said.

Water Borne Diseases Expected this Rainy Season

Meanwhile, this rainy season, the provincial health officer said that they expect water borne diseases to occur.

“We expect water borne diseases, water influenced diseases like for example diarrhea ‘yung mga ganon environmental. And of course with the rain, we can have again mosquitoes, ‘yung mga dengue,” he said.

Tandingan added that the provincial health system is gearing up for these, “pinaghahandaan naman ng provincial health office, but of course, these are implemented by the municipal health units since the provincial health office only provide the technical assistance.”
