Tabuk City, Kalinga – Despite the uncertainty of resuming sports activities next year, the provincial government through the Office of the Planning and Development-Sports Services is now crafting the Annual Investment Plan for next year’s sports activities and combative sports training.

The provincial government allocated 10.5M worth of funds in preparation for next year's sports events, which include inter-agency Sports Competition, Provincial Meet, Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association (CARAA) Meet, and other various Kalinga sports programs.

Provincial Sports Coordinator Napoleon Ayang-ang during the Isangguni sa Ating Gobernador Radio Program on Tuesday, December 14, disclosed that said activities have been funded and that the sports event having the largest budget is the CARAA Meet 2022.

“Napondoan dagituy. Intunu September ken November kuma nu 2022, provincial meet ken assuming that everything will get back to normalcy. Daytuy provincial meet a ket adda idiay diay kanen iti athletes, sports equipment da, medicine ken daytuy tulong tayu ngay kadagituy eskwelaan a pagyanna ti athletes, or billeting schools,” Ayang-ang said.

After the provincial meet, he said that the CARAA meet will follow from November 2022 to February 2023 with P8,928,000 funding.

He stressed that the provincial government under the “SHARED Governance” aims to boost the development of sports in the province, as this is also needed for the constituents’ well-being.

Despite the suspension of sports activities nationwide, he relayed that there is an ongoing combative sports training by the OPAD Sports Services.

“Before I came here, madama ngay ti trainor’s training of coaches from DepEd Kalinga Division nga adda dagidiay trainers a mang-train kinyada tapnu ma-improve daydiay skills da on combative sports namely arnis, wushu, penkat silat, taekwando and boxing, combative sports,” informed by the provincial sports coordinator.

“…madama nga idiay gym nga agtre-train ta panunuten mi masapul a didiay coach must be a depth with the certain skill nga isursuro da kadagdiay athletes da ta adda ngay diay naobserve ko a nagal-ala da lang ti coaches, nairana met a nangabak ti athlete na, inala da met a coach a di na pay napadpadas a nagay-ayam idiay nga sports discipline daytuy a madama a training mi ket to enhance their skills and capability tapnu iti kasta ket matulungan dagituy athletes,” he added.

Even if undergoing preparations, Ayang-ang said that there is still a need for the world to get back to ‘normalcy’ before pushing through with such events as the Covid-19 is still a threat.

He expressed hope that ‘when everything is okay or participants are already vaccinated, the national government will give the go signal for such activities to be conducted’.
