Kalinga rolls out vax for 5-11 age group

Tabuk City, Kalinga – In its bid to protect children aged 5 to 11 and attain herd immunity for said group, the provincial local government unit of Kalinga launched this February 19, 20222 kids’ vaccination program at the Capitol Park.


Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Edward Tandingan said that the launching followed the government’s recommendation to reach inoculation of at least 70% of the total population by end of June.


The province, he reported, is only 10% short of achieving its goal. He said that 60% or 133, 910 individuals of the 222, 826 province’s total population were already fully vaccinated.

“Ket maysa a pamay-an tapnu magun-ud diay 10% until end of June ket kuna ti gobyerno nga inayun tayun ti 5-11 years old, isunga agrugi tayo metten,” Tandingan added.


The provincial health officer disclosed that a total of 150 Pfizer vaccines are available for inoculation today.

The provincial launching gives the go signal for the local government units to open their vaccination sites for said age bracket.


Meanwhile, Tandingan along with Governor Ferdinand Tubban, Jack Gamatero of the Department of Interior Local Government (DILG), Board Member Tarnate and other officials expressed their gratitude to the parents who sacrificed their time, bringing their kids to avail for the COVID-19 protection.


The provincial officials likewise thanked the frontliners, health workers, private agencies, and sponsors for their support thus, making the event possible. Their effort, the officials said, are commendable.
