Tabuk City, Kalinga – The Province of Kalinga is set to receive P17,000,000 from the National Government through the Bagong Pilipinas Rice Program to support the province’s rice production and food security initiatives.

Governor James Edduba announced this during a meeting of the Kalinga Management Committee (MANCOM) on Monday, March 23, at the Kalinga Capitol New Conference Hall.

The funding, which falls under the Fiscal Year 2026 Local Government Support Fund–Financial Assistance (LGSF-FA), aims to help local government units address priority needs, particularly food security.

In his message during the gathering, Edduba said the province intends to use the fund for rice-related programs, including the possible restoration of heirloom rice fields and the provision of financial assistance to Kalinga farmers, especially those using diesel-powered equipment, who are affected by the ongoing fuel crisis.

“Diay letter nga nai-address kanyak from Malacañang Rice Program, kunana sunga nu Rice Program koma, inay-ayon tayo koma dagitoy restoration dagitoy heirloom rice fields tayo. Damagen tayo ti mabalin. Kadagitoy farmers nga agus-usar ti diesel, agited tayo koma ti financial assistance kadagitoy,” said Edduba.

The amount will be directly transferred to the provincial government through digital means to allow immediate implementation.

Provincial offices, led by the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAG-Kalinga), have been directed by the governor to identify beneficiaries and facilitate the distribution of assistance.

The provincial government is set to finalize the implementation of the assistance program in the coming weeks.
