Ifugao, Philippines – Among the hosts of the international delegates of the 21st World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) from April 20 to 22, 2022 are Kiangan and Banaue, Ifugao. This was reported by DTI- CAR Regional Director Jovi Ganongan through the Mt. Province Broadcasting Corporation (MPBC).
The Global Summit of WTTC is an annual event where industry leaders gather with key government representatives to continue aligning efforts to support the sector’s recovery and move beyond to a safer, more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable future.
The Philippine Department of Tourism was supposed to host the event in October 2021 but was postponed due to global travel restrictions.
Ganongan feels honored that Cordillera was chosen to host said worldwide event.
According to the Regional Director, such activity is a chance to prove that the tourism in the region is ready to compete globally, especially since international media are among the WTTC delegation.
This year’s theme of the Global Summit is ‘Rediscovering Travel’ with the purpose to bring together people from around the world who embrace the same empathy, values and ambitions in solving our many social, environmental and economic challenges by creating future sustainable and inclusive growth and shared prosperity.
