Landslide victims in Ifugao and Nueva Vizcaya get financial help

Ifugao, Philippines – Victims of Typhoon Ulysses in this province received financial assistance from the Provincial Local Government of Ifugao on Tuesday, November 17; PLGU Ifugao reported.


Financial assistance amounting to P440,000 was personally handed by Provincial Governor Jerry Dalipog to the families of the 15 victims of the recent mudslide in Barangay View Point, Banaue and Barangay Runruno of Quezon Nueva Vizcaya.


Each family received P30,000.00, while the sole survivor of the incident was handed an amount of P20,000.00.


In the report of DRRMC Cordillera dated November 18, 11 casualties were recorded in the landslide incident which transpired at Barangay Viewpoint. One survived the incident as he was reported to have left the site when the incident occurred.


Report of the office also told that search and rescue operations is still ongoing.

On November 12, personnel of DPWH were on their duty doing clearing operations on roads at Barangay Viewpoint, but then heavy rain pushed them to seek shelter at their bunkhouse.

While at the shelter, landslide occurred which buried them along with stranded individuals who were also with them at that time.


DPWH personnel who died from the landslide were identified as Engr. John Limoh, Engr. Julius Gulayan Jr., Joel Chur-ig, Johnny Duccog and Roldan Pigoh.


Earlier, the Department of Social Welfare and Development-Cordillera and the Office of the Civil Defense Cordillera were reported to have already given financial assistance to the family of the victims.
