LGU Tanudan provides food assistance to families under lockdown

Tanudan, Kalinga―Local Government Unit (LGU) of Tanudan headed by Mayor Jaedicke Dagadag through the Municipal Social Welfare Development Office (MSWDO) sends relief assistance to over 8 sitios of 7 barangays under lockdown following the sudden surge of CoViD-19 cases in the municipality.


Dagadag said in an interview that a temporary lockdown has been imposed to sitios or barangays with CoViD-19 positive cases as their way to contain the virus and avoid further transmission.


On the other hand, MSWDO Head Violy Awingan said that for the 14 days lockdown, a contingency plan on distribution of relief assistance through their counterpart units and offices is adopted to ensure the food supply of every affected household.


“Adda ti contingency plan nga inadopt mi from Provincial office so distribution ti food packs, counterpart. From 14-day lockdown, for the BLGU icater da kuma good for 2 days, MLGU good for 2 days , PLGU good for 2 days, DSWD 4 days and remaining nga 4 days siguro haan pay met siguro nga permi nga naibusan diay pamilya,” she said.


To date, 22 households and 15 individuals in Barangay Isolation Unit (BIU) of Sitio Pitang, Anggacan Sur, Sitio Pagugo, Dupligan with 105 households and 9 individuals in BIU, and 180 households and 10 individuals under BIU have already received initial food packs from MLGU and some from DSWD.

With the help of the PNP personnel, relief goods were successfully delivered to the sitios especially to far flung areas.


While for recent sitios and a barangay under lockdown which are Sitio Ulaga, Lower Mangali, Gilgila, Mangali Centro, Bawac, Dupligan, and Barangay Anggacan, their food packs are being prepared for delivery.

Dagadag further mentioned that for barangays with no recorded positive cases of CoViD-19, they have arranged 2 days alternate schedule for Upper Tanudan and Lower Tanudan in purchasing their necessities.


He added that there were also public-transport vehicle owners who agreed to purchase goods for the households which shall be charged with fare.


Meantime, Dagadag reminds his constituents on the need for continuous strict adherence to health protocols. He likewise urged the residents to only leave home for important and emergency matters.
