He stressed that the laboratory would ensure faster detection, treatment, and therefore recovery of those infected with COVID-19.

“Since last year, we have to send swab specimens to Baguio City aside from nearby provinces, and getting the test results take a long time. Those days will soon be over now,” the governor said.

Provincial Administrator William Puday Jr. delivered the governor’s message during the blessing of the molecular laboratory on June 23 which was graced by Department of Health Assistant Secretary Dr. Nestor Santiago Jr.

The 15 million COVID 19 response project, is considered as the first Local Government Unit (LGU)-funded molecular laboratory in Northern Luzon.

The City Health Office of Tabuk received the laboratory’s License to Operate on June 15 and the blessing done earlier today signifies its formal opening and operation.

A Ray of Hope

Tubban recognized the effort of each workers that “made the dream a reality not only for the people of Tabuk, but also for the residence of the province” adding that now there is a ray of hope.

The governor cited Israel as an example where people are no longer required to wear face masks while recalling the times when health experts used to say that COVID-19 virus will be forever.

He expressed hope that with the facility and with the cooperation of everyone, the province can survive and restrictions will eventually be eased.

“With this facility, and the people working together, lives can be saved. God bless the molecular laboratory, the professionals who will do the job and the people they will serve,” Tubban remarked.
