Tuguegarao, Cagayan - The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Region 02 has permitted three bus companies to operate in Cagayan since December 1.

These are Victory Liner, Florida, and 5-Star buses.

LTFRB Region 02 Director Edward Cabase, in a press release, said the trip is point-to-point, which means that there are designated stopover points and terminals for the passenger buses. He said that buses are strictly prohibited from letting their passengers descend or pick up passengers along their route.

To ensure that there are no violators for this regulation, Cabase said that LTFRB Region 02 has set up an app for them to monitor the travel of each operator using QR Codes.

According to him, there is also no increase in fare, which remains at a P1.75 per kilometer charge.

The LTFRB will allow 70% passenger capacity, but it may increase depending on the Covid-19 situation in the province, said Cabase.

Those who will be allowed to travel, he said, are the fully vaccinated. They are only required to present their COVID-19 vaccination card.

Those who have not yet completed their vaccination are required to show an antigen test that is valid within 72 hours before they are permitted to travel.

The Director reiterated that violators of protocols and guidelines, as issued by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) would assume a corresponding sanction.

As of this writing, the province of Cagayan has logged only seven new cases with active cases down to 172. The province is currently under Alert level 2.
