Magsaysay, Tabuk City receives Ideal Functional Barangay award

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Punong Barangay Enrique Sagayo of Magsaysay, Tabuk City received on Tuesday, October 25 their award for being among the six barangays with Ideal Functional Barangay Development Council (BDC) for the year 2021.


The award is in recognition for the development council of the barangays that achieved a rating of 80-100% and was able to achieve all indicators for evaluating functionality.

Said award was given by the Department of Interior and Local Government – Cordillera (DILG-CAR) during its 31st Local Government Month held at Hotel Elizabeth, Baguio City.


As reported, the indicators for the assessment are the areas of organization, meetings, policies and plans, and accomplishments.


According to the agency, the monitoring of the functionality of BDCs is part of evaluating their performance vis-a-vis their mandated functions and responsibilities. The result of the assessment, it said, will enable the barangay governments to make the BDCs viable community-based institution.

Sagayo conveyed that the award is a bonus for doing their duties and responsibilities in their area of jurisdiction.


“I'm so happy and very thankful to God for this award. I didn't expect this. What I know is I am only doing my job and responsibility as a barangay captain in my barangay,” he expressed in an earlier interview.


The Punong Barangay attributed the award to the joint effort and cooperation of his constituent.
