‘Maladaw tayo ditoy Kalinga nu haan tayo tanggapen ti modernization ti PUV’ – Board Member Pangsiw

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Board Member Frederick Pangsiw highlighted the importance of accepting the modernization program for public utility vehicles in the province, saying Kalinga will be left behind if people refuse to support the upgrading of the public utility vehicles.

“Maladladaw tayo nu haan tayo a tanggapen wennu awaten iti most modernized [PUV],” he warned during the Cordillera Basic Sectors Transport Cooperative (CBSTC) Kalinga Province and JMC Isuzu Transport Summit held at Bulanao Central School this December 14 as he spoke on possible scenarios of having outdated mode of transportation.

Pangsiw, who is the Chairman of the Committee on Transportation, related the development to the case of typewriters replaced by computers. He said back then many would prefer the former, for it is handy.

“I remember, kunak garuden, idi sangkasangpet iti computer, mas marami akong nakikita na ayaw nila yung computer, mas maganda pa yung typewriter kasi very handy [sabi nila],” he recalled.

However, when people started using computers, Pangsiw added, the people discovered that the computer is much better and that there are many aspects they can access, and there are more that they can do with it.

This, he said, is the same thing with the modernization of the vehicles as this aims to upgrade and improve the PUVs and their services.

Meantime, Kalinga is expected to get 22 units of modern PUVs for the pilot test to be operated by the Cordillera Basic Sectors Transport Cooperative drivers.
