Man dead on the spot in motorcycle-elf collision in Rizal, Kalinga

Rizal, Kalinga – A still unidentified rider died on the spot from multiple injuries after his motorcycle crashed against an elf along the national road in Barangay Calaocan this Tuesday, August 17.


In an initial investigation, Rizal police investigator, Police Staff Sergeant Henry Tuluan Jr. said that a witness saw the Euro MC motorcycle traversing the national road going to the direction of Liwan East.


Witness said the rider was driving fast when he encroached on the lane of incoming traffic. The first approaching vehicle was able to prevent from crashing against the motorcycle, but the incoming elf which was following the first vehicle was not able to.

“Nakalisi daytoy inmuna a lugan ngem daytoy elf, haan na nalisyanen,” Tuluan said, adding that based on the skid marks on the front portion of the elf, the driver hit the brakes, however it was too late.


The motorcycle then smashed head-on against the elf. Even the driver of the elf hit the brakes, the massive vehicle kept moving, pushing the motorcycle and the rider approximately 20 meters before the vehicle finally stopped.

The rider was declared dead on the spot for multiple injuries, including a head injury and a broken leg. He was brought to TAMPCO Funeral Care later.


Tuluan added that they cannot establish the identity of the victim yet for there were no identification cards found from him. The investigator said that the victim was wearing a dark shirt, 5’2” or 5’3” in height, and has a medium built, short hair, and has a light complexion.


Meanwhile, the driver of the elf was brought to Rizal Municipal Police Station for proper action.


Update: The body has already been identified by his immediate family as Roy Sandoval, married and a resident of Liwan West, Rizal.
