Man in drinking spree arrested for illegal possession of firearm

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Law enforcers arrested a man allegedly in possession of illegal firearm at the Canao Bridge in Barangay Calanan this Tuesday, March 16.

Tabuk City Police Station stated that the police were patrolling the Bantay – Calanan road when they saw a group of young people drinking at the Canao Bridge.

This prompted the police to approach them and advised them to go home. However, one of them acted suspiciously and tried to withdraw from the presence of the police, but they were able to stop him that led to the discovery of a gun that the suspect tried to hide.

Confiscated from the suspect is an Armscor caliber .45 handgun with magazine inserted and loaded with three live ammunitions.

Since the suspect cannot present any pertinent documents, he was arrested and was brought to Tabuk City Police Station.

A case for violation of Republic Act 10591 or Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act is now being prepared against the suspect.
