Mastermind in the killing of Abra teacher still at large

Bangued, Abra – While the police were able to identify and arrest the suspects who killed a teacher in Abra, the police said the alleged mastermind behind the murder is still at large.

The four suspects now under the custody of Abra police were Romel Paa – the gunman, Sonny Boy Tullas – the one who drove the motorcycle, Aldrin Alagao- the lookout and Abelardo Talape – the middle man.

The mastermind, Armando Wilson, a relative of the victim, is the barangay captain of Dumagas, Boliney.

The 4 suspects admitted to police they were paid P100,000 to kill Sayen and that a land dispute was the motive of the crime.

Abra PPO Acting Provincial Director PCOL Maly Castillo Cula, through Abra Today, said that Talape works as a contract killer. Paa, the other suspect, was found to have had a previous case outside Abra.

"Laking tulong ng CCTV doon sa pinangyarihan sa pag-identify ng motor. Nag-backtrack po tayo at tiningnan lahat ng footages kung saan sila pumunta at pati na rin sa mga nakakita na tumulong lalo na sa Patucannay," Cula stated.

Earlier, Abra police released a statement thanking the public for their contributions to the speedy resolution of the case.

As recalled, Rudy Steward Dugmam Sayen was heading to work early morning of Wednesday when he was shot twice by a riding-in-tandem.

He was said to have been tailed by the suspects and when they were nearing the curve going to Barangay Sta. Rosa, one of the suspects hit his motorcycle.

The other suspect, meantime, shot him in the back and behind the ears.

Sayen was ferried to the hospital by the members of Abra Provincial Mobile Force Company, but while being treated, he died.
