Tanudan, Kalinga─ Mayor Jaedicke Rhoss Dagadag initiated the exchange of peace tokens or Allasiw/Sipat to restore the peace pact between the tribes of Dacalan and Pangol.

This is traditionally done to sustain the harmonious relationship of two cultural communities.

The Allasiw/Sipat was presented by Pangol sub-tribe Bodong holder Fernando Cosidon and Dacalan sub-tribe Bodong Holder Pio Bagillin Banna, at the Mayor’s residence in Purok 1, Bulanao, Tabuk City.

Mayor Dagadag related that the root of the long-time issue between the two tribes concerns a land dispute, that, he said, shall be legally settled in court for proper and appropriate decision.

Dagadag said that a problem transpired when both tribes came to complain about the destruction of properties involving both sides.

He then initiated the restoration of their peace pact (bodong) followed by an exchange of peace tokens (allasiw/sipat) to begin the settling of said conflict between the tribes.

“Tatta lang a pinumtuk ta inggana nagpipinerdi da ti property da. Diyay sipat gamin, temporary a mangi-hold, tapno haan tu mabuteng daytoy duwa a tribu a mapan maki-attend ken makidenggeg nu adda ma-set a meeting,” he said.

“Amin a problema adda ti pagsayaatan na, ta dayta ket awan met ti nasaktan, diyay tupay adda ti mapasaktan ket maayos met, nasayaat kuma diyay tungtungan, awan kuma ti agpipinnudut,” he added.

Meantime, a follow-up meeting will be held on April 24 at Se-et, Mabaca to be attended by the elders, Pangol tribe, Dacalan tribe, legislative officials, and negotiators of Tanudan.
