Lubuagan, Kalinga - Mayor Charisma Anne Dickpus said that agricultural production of the yLubuagan farmers may soon double since they can now save more time from extensive farm labor and may utilize the remaining time in vegetable gardening, livestock raising or fish farming. Moreover, they can also spend quality time with family. This is made possible due to the support and interventions from the different government agencies.

The mayor asserted this following the recent delivery of post-harvest facilities, two portable rice mills, two multi-threshers, and two hand tractors with complete accessories, to the Tanglag Community Organization for Unity and Development (TaCOUD) from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

DOLE Director Nathaniel Lacambra together with the representatives of Governor Ferdinand Tubban and Mayor Dickpus awarded said post-harvest facilities on May 25 in Lubuagan.

On August 19, 2020, TaCOUD also received farm inputs with a total cost of P4,648,000.00 from the Department of Agriculture (DA) under its Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program.

Both grant of livelihood assistance is part of the whole-of-nation approach in ending local communist armed conflict (ELCAC) through the creation of a national task force (NTF) with the support of the local government unit (LGU).

Mayor Dickpus affirms that these equipment would enable them to produce better harvest and higher quality food products specifically upland rice. She then challenged the beneficiaries to utilize said assistance to expand the production and services of their association.

“Dakkel a tulong kanyada, ta dayta nga area met ket agricultural, farmers ti kaadwan idiay. Haan met kaskari ti makagatang ti kakasta, so nagasat da dita a programa ti gobyerno ta tatta ket pumaspas, umadu ken mausar da met kadagita a trabaho da,” Dickpus related.

Additionally, Dickpus relates that the organization is a long-time association in Lubuagan with more than 78 farmer members that are primarily engaged on the production of rice and vegetable.

Dickpus then lauded the active participation, cooperation and unity of the members as they take on the challenge of increasing their rice yield and contribute for the increase rice availability within barangay Tanglag and even for the whole municipality.
