Men First: COMELEC gives priority to male voter registrants on Father’s Day

Tabuk City, Kalinga – It’s going to be men and boys or young male voters first, from June 21 to 23 at the Commission on Election office as they give priority to male voter registrants on these special days.

Kalinga Provincial Election Supervisor, Atty. Dexter Barry Cawis said that in a memorandum issued by the national office, June 21-23 has been declared as a three-day special registration for ‘men and boys.’

Cawis explained that this is to honor the fathers and men who play as fatherly figures since this third week of June is going to be the Father’s Day celebration. On the said dates, male registrants shall be prioritized during registration hours from 8 AM to 5 PM.

Meanwhile, he added that women can still come and register on the said dates, “priority sila [male registrants] ngem nu adda iti umay a women, i-accommodate tayo latta.”

Last March, COMELEC also conducted a special voter registration for women and girls during the National Women’s month celebration.

Meantime, the Kalinga provincial election supervisor is again reminding qualified voters to go to the Office of Election Officers in their area and register and not to wait for the last minute of registration.

“Habang tatta a haan pay lang a last days iti registration, kitaen dan dagiti opisina dagiti election officers, ag-register dan to avoid manen iti long queues nu September, kasi aginggana September 30 tayo lang ken awan extension na dayta,” he said.

As of April Election Registration Board (ERB) hearing, there is a total of 139,211 registered individuals in the province who are ready to vote for the 2022 national and local elections.
