Santa Ana, Cagayan – The cadaver of a missing fisherman was found in an advanced stage of decomposition in a mangrove area at Sitio Gotan, San Vicente, Santa Ana, on Wednesday, August 30.

Authorities said the victim, who was from Calayan Island, had been missing since August 24 after they went fishing in the waters within the vicinity of Sitio Mananingot, Patunungan, Santa Ana.

Accordingly, the victim, identified as Harold Tugade, 29, was with two other fishermen when they proceeded to the area to fish.

When it was already time for them to go home, the two noticed Tugade was nowhere to be found, prompting them to report to the authorities. He was never seen since then.

Prior to the retrieval of his body, MDRRMO Santa Ana revealed their office received a report that some debris from the victim's damaged boat was found, but informants said they did not catch sight of the victim’s body.

His body was only recovered after six days. He was immediately recognized because of his tattoo with the code name Arol.

Due to the rotting state and foul odor of his remains, the family of the victim decided to bury them right away.
