Tabuk City, Kalinga – The new building of the Highway Patrol Group (HPG-Kalinga) has recently been inaugurated and was described by Kalinga Police Provincial Office (KPPO) Director, Police Colonel Gilbert Fati-ig, as a symbol of renewed commitment and greater responsibility in law enforcement.

Fati-ig, during the inauguration of the building located at Camp Captain Juan M. Duyan in Bulanao, Tabuk City, on January 23, 2026, underscored the role of the facility in delivering better and faster services to the people of Kalinga.

The activity was graced by HPG Director PBGen Hansel M. Marantan.

Speaking before police officers and provincial officials of Kalinga, Fati-ig emphasized that the new HPG-Kalinga building is more than physical infrastructure, but a reflection of the Philippine National Police’s dedication to excellence in public service and public safety.

“As we inaugurate this new Provincial Highway Patrol Team building, this structure is more than just steel and concrete—it is a symbol of our deeper commitment to public safety and excellence in law enforcement,” Fati-ig stated.

As Kalinga Province continues to progress, with increased travel and newly opened roads, Fati-ig emphasized that the new building will serve as a central hub where officers can coordinate operations and respond quickly to emergencies, enabling the HPG-Kalinga team to serve the public more efficiently.

“With the increasing demands brought by mobility and development in our province, this new building will serve as a strategic hub for operations, coordination, and rapid response, empowering our personnel to serve the public more effectively and efficiently,” he added.

Continuing his message, the police official acknowledged the collective effort behind the completion of the project, crediting local officials, local government units (LGUs), partner agencies, and stakeholders who continue to support the initiatives of the PNP.

“This achievement would not have been possible without the strong support and cooperation of our local government officials, our LGUs, partner agencies, and stakeholders who continue to believe in the mission of the PNP,” he said, recalling how the HPG unit previously operated from a modest structure designed only to meet basic operational needs, which has now been transformed into a more functional facility.

Addressing the HPG-Kalinga team under the leadership of PCPT Jordan L. Bongat, the KPPO Director expressed hope that the new facility would inspire them to give their best in the performance of their duties and live up to the higher expectations that come with improved resources and public trust.

“To our highway patrol team, as we always say, may this facility motivate you to uphold the highest standards of integrity, discipline, and dedication. Let this building stand as a reminder of your duty to protect lives, enforce the law with fairness, and serve as role models,” Fati-ig concluded.
