Municipal Jail in Tanudan soon to be erected

Tanudan, Kalinga – With the Municipal Local Government Unit of Tanudan donating 2,000 square meters lot to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, the funding and construction of the municipal jail in Sitio Banagao, Poblacion will soon follow.

The deed of donation was promised through a memorandum of agreement (MOA) which is the first step to attaining the goal of having a municipal jail in town.

The MOA was signed between Tanudan LGU represented by Mayor Jaedicke Rhoss Dagadag and BJMP represented by Regional Director, Senior Superintendent Roland Lee Cael on March 7, 2022

According to Tabuk District Jail Warden John Lapon, a municipal jail shall be erected at the donated lot once the BJMP releases funding for the building.

He explained that individuals who have committed municipal offenses will be brought to the municipal jail instead of the district.

“So ibig sabihin nun, ma-decongest met daytoy jail ditoy Tabuk ta haan dan nga iyegen diay offender ditoy District jail ta addan iti baludan tayo idiay Tanudan.”

In his statement, Mayor Jaedicke Rhoss Dagadag conveyed that they agreed and immediately worked on the donation of a lot to BJMP to fast track the construction of the municipal jail in Tanudan.

“Mayat daytoy tapnu haanen a makisinneksek dagitoy taga Tanudan nga inmate idiay district jail. Nu adda agaramid iti basol a ket idiay dan tun Tanudan a mai-commit,” he said.

He added that the municipal jail will be situated near the PNP Tanudan and the BFP whose building shall commence construction soon.
