Tabuk City, Kalinga – A 31-year-old nurse in Tabuk City died after falling from a zip line at a resort in the province Sunday afternoon, June 12, 2022.

Initial investigation of Tabuk City police said the victim’s brother who witnessed the incident told authorities that he first tried the zip line and reached the end point of the cable without any harm.

However, on his second try, the victim’s one hand slipped off from the zip line holder, causing him to fall to the ground.

The victim, Paul Gaayon, a resident of Purok 5, Bulanao Centro, was immediately taken to the Kalinga Provincial Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

According to the owner of the resort who reported the incident to the police station, their lifeguard instructed the victim and his companions about safety for beginners.

He said that the accident happened during the victim’s second try at the zip line.

He recounted that the victim fell straight to the safety net. However, the said net was torn when the victim landed due to his heavy weight. The 31-year-old nurse then fell to the ground.

The police are still investigating the incident.
