Pinukpuk, Kalinga – The second gunfight between members of the 503rd Infantry Brigade and the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) resulted in the death of a rebel and the wounding of a soldier on Sunday, November 23.

Initial information from the 503rd Infantry Brigade stated that government troops from the 103rd Infantry Battalion clashed with around 10 CTG members in Barangay Allaguia today, just two days after the two groups first engaged in a firefight in Bayao, Pinukpuk.

The second encounter resulted in the neutralization of one rebel and the recovery of a high-powered firearm. On the government side, one soldier was reportedly wounded during the incident and was rushed to the hospital for immediate medical attention.

Pursuit operations against the remaining CTG members are ongoing.

“The 503rd Infantry Brigade reaffirms the Philippine Army’s commitment to maintaining peace and security in Kalinga Province, urging the remaining members of the CTGs to lay down their arms and return to the folds of the law,” the 503rd Infantry Brigade said in a statement.
