Over ₱100K raised to aid bullied boy who lost eye; Donation drive remains open

BAGUIO CITY — More than ₱100,000 in donations has been raised for Sean, a young boy who lost one of his eyes following a reported bullying incident, as individuals and groups continue to rally behind him and his family.

Singer Roque Belino, who helped lead the donation drive, said the amount raised will help cover Sean’s medical needs and other expenses arising from the incident.

Belino attributed the fundraising effort’s success to the generosity of donors, individuals who shared the appeal online, and others who supported the campaign.

He said the long hours and effort spent raising funds were worthwhile because of the support extended to Sean and his family.

From bullying incident to medical battle

Sean’s ordeal began with a reported bullying incident that left him seriously injured and eventually resulted in the loss of one of his eyes.

Following the incident, Sean and his family had to deal not only with the emotional impact of what happened but also with the financial burden of his medical treatment and related expenses.

The family’s situation prompted calls for assistance, leading Belino and other supporters to organize a donation drive.

As the appeal spread, donations began coming in from people who wanted to help the child and ease the burden on his family.

Donation drive remains open

Belino said the donation drive will remain open until Sunday to accommodate those who still want to extend financial assistance.

A full transparency report detailing the donations received is also scheduled to be released on Sunday.

Belino and other organizers are likewise expected to meet Sean and his parents on the same day.

The meeting will provide an opportunity for the organizers to personally turn over assistance and check on Sean and his family following the fundraising campaign.

Belino expressed gratitude to everyone who donated, shared the fundraising appeal and offered support to the family.

He said the response demonstrated the willingness of people to come together to help a child facing a difficult medical and emotional ordeal.

For Sean’s family, the financial assistance comes as they continue to cope with the consequences of the incident while attending to the boy’s medical needs and recovery.

The organizers said the outpouring of support has provided the family with much-needed assistance as they navigate the difficult period.
