Tabuk City, Kalinga – At least 850 Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa ating Disadvantage (TUPAD) beneficiaries are set to receive P3,325,000 cash for work aid tomorrow at the Provincial Gymnasium, with the supervision of the Department of labor and Employment-Kalinga.

DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program focal person Lourdes Canseco, in an interview, said that the aim of the assistance is to provide emergency employment for displaced workers, seasonal workers and underemployed individuals for a minimum period of 10 days and maximum of 15 days.

Caseco revealed that of the said amount, P1,050,000 came from the special project fund of Senator Imee Marcos which will benefit at least 200 beneficiaries who worked for 15 days and shall receive a salary of P5,250 while the P2,275,000 came from the office of Senator Joel Villanueva which will benefit 650 individuals who worked for 10 days and shall receive P3,500.

Assignments of the TUPAD beneficiaries

Caseco said the beneficiaries are tasked to do four-hour community work per day. She said they either help to clean the roads or simply help in some community work in their respective barangays. To help the environment, she said, they also collect plastic wastes to be recycled into chairs.

“Ang ibinigay sa kanila na trabaho ay maglinis sa kalsada or sa respective barangays nila, tapos yung mag-gather sila ng mga plastic wastes para gawing upuan para makatulong din sa environment, yun yung maganda sa project na ito. Aside from makakatulong sa kanila, nakakatulong din para sa community and the environment,” Caseco said.

Caseco said that in December 2021 they doled out the same assistance to other TUPAD beneficiaries in the province which is of great help to the people in Kalinga as many lost their jobs and livelihood from the pandemic.
