Over P4.1M in financial aid given to typhoon victims who lost their homes in Kalinga

Tabuk City, Kalinga – A total of 64 families who were victims of Typhoon Ompong from the Municipalities of Balbalan, Lubuagan, Pinukpuk and Tabuk City received a total of 4, 160,000.00 for their shelter and livelihood assistance at the Capitol Building today, December 17, 2020.


In a report by PIO Kalinga, it said that each recipient were given cheques amounting to P65,000.00.


Said assistance which came from the donations of Republic of South Korea and People's Republic of China for the victims of the said typhoon was turned over by the Office of the Civil Defense Cordillera.

During the turn over ceremony, Governor Ferdinand B. Tubban expressed his gratitude to the donors in behalf of the province and to the National and Cordillera Disaster Risk and Reduction and Management Council and OCD-CAR for the awarding of said assistance.


It could be recalled that during the occurrence of Typhoon Ompong way back in 2018, a state of calamity was declared in the province as it left one casualty from the Municipality of Pasil and left millions-worth of damages in agricultural crops and infrastructure.


It was reported that 17 houses were totally damaged and 201 houses were partially damaged. As to the number of displaced families, the province recorded 2,646.
