Tabuk City, Kalinga - Residents of some barangays in Tanudan now enjoy faster transport of goods and health access with the completion and turn over of the 4.64-kilometer Dalnacan-Mangali via Taloctoc Provincial Road Phase 2.
In a press release, Provincial Information Office disclosed that the construction for the P120 million worth project started on September 2, 2019, and was turned over by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and provincial government to Tanudan LGU headed by Jaedicke Rhoss Dagadag this October 27, 2021.
The Conditional Matching Grant to Provinces (CMGP) project was funded by DILG and was implemented by Kalinga LGU.
The road traverse barangays Anggacan, Anggacan Sur, Lower Mangali, Mangali Centro and Poblacion, Lower and Upper Taloctoc, and Mabaca.
During the turn over ceremony, Governor Ferdinand Tubban assured the allotment of additional funds from the provincial government for the continuation of the road saying, “little by little ket dumanun idiay mismo nga ba-baranggay daytuy nga kalsada.”
“Uray saggabassit, mainut-inut, malpas tu metlaeng amin nga arapaap tayo. Maysa daytuy nga kalsada nga mangisang-at ti pagbiyagan ti haan laeng nga taga Tanudan, nu haan ket ti amin nga taga Kalinga," Tubban stressed.
The governor was likewise delighted for Kalinga, being at the third rank in the country when it comes to the implementation CMGP projects. The province maintained its place “for how many years” now.
DILG Provincial Director Max Mayer Adong, who also graced the event, joined the governor and congratulated all who contributed efforts to the success of the project.
“Naragsak launay ti DILG nga makita dagiyay dakkel a tulong nga naited daytuy projects. Makikita dituy jay pariticipatory governance nga maibaga which is aligned to our Provincial Governor's call on SHARED Governance," stated PD Adong.
Impact of the project on the community
In a documentary released by PIO, health personnel from Rural Health Unit confessed their struggle when the road was not yet improved, especially the delayed transport of patients and vaccines.
Avelino Banatao, a resident, shared the same sentiment, adding “di awan pay dayta kalsada, ipagna mi amin nga produkto mi kasla ti kape. Magna kami 4 nga oras engana Gawidan. Nu adda pay ti masakit, assiwan mi, ipan mi iday Gawidan. Nu adda pay matay nga magapu idiay dadduma nga ili, dita Gawidan met laeng.”
The newly constructed road not only provides safer and faster access but will also boost agricultural productivity, tourism, and manufacturing in the municipality of Tanudan.
