P22.4M housing projects benefit 27 families in Mt. Province

Bontoc, Mountain Province- Twenty-seven families in Barangay Dalican in Bontoc, Mt. Province, now have safe and secure homes after benefiting from the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s core shelter projects.

 

The project was funded by the DSWD through its Core Shelter Assistance Program of the Disaster Response and Management Division (DRMD).

 

Stephanie Kanongkong, Social Welfare Officer III at the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office, relayed to the Bontoc Municipal Information Office that a total of P22,420,190 was allocated for providing the houses.


According to her, P15,920,190 was turned over to the Dalican Neighborhood Association for Shelter Assistance (NASA) for the first beneficiaries, while P6,500,000 was given to the second batch.

 

The recipients received their houses during the turnover ceremony on February 1, 2024.

 

During the ceremony, Bontoc Mayor Jerome Tudlong, Jr. expressed his gratitude to DSWD for providing social services to the municipality, noting that their commitment greatly contributes to the overall well-being of the residents.

 

He then assured that the local government, along with its partner agencies, will continue to bring more services closer to the community.

 

To recall, 29 core shelters were also turned over in the same barangay in 2022.
