P2M potable water supply systems in conflict-affected barangay in Pinukpuk inaugurated


Tabuk City, Kalinga – Residents of four sitios in Barangay Apatan, Pinukpuk will now enjoy clean and abundant drinking water with two potable water supply systems constructed in the barangay.


The projects, funded by the 2022 Local Government Support Fund-Support to Barangay Development Program (LGSF-SBDP), were inaugurated on Thursday, Sept. 07.


The inauguration was led by representatives of the Department of Interior and Local Government—Cordillera, members of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC), Mayor Irving Dasayon, and barangay officials of the said community.

The water supply projects amount to P4 million, according to the DILG-Cordillera.


To recall, Apatan was among three barangays in Pinukpuk identified as recipients of P12 million in funding by the NTF-ELCAC in 2022. The two other barangays include Ba-ay and Limos.


In Ba-ay, the implementation of the P3 million worth of spring development projects for Sitios Matayog, Proper Ba-ay, Lukutan, and Mala-ap and the execution of the P1 million worth of improvement of the health station in Penepec are still ongoing.


For Limos, it was also allotted a P4 million budget. Of the amount, P1.5 million was allocated for the rehabilitation of Level II water systems for Sitios Sidog and Tappo while P2.5 million for the construction of a barangay health station at Sitio Liyok.


Last week, monitoring of ongoing projects in said areas was made by the DILG Central Office, DILG CAR Regional Office, DILG Kalinga, the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC), and the Local Government Unit of Pinukpuk.
