Pasil Kalinga – Officials of the 14 barangays in the municipality of Pasil were trained on November 9, 2021, to become advocates against illegal drugs and prevent addiction, use, and selling of such in their communities.

This was realized through the Roll-out Training Activities on Strengthening Institutional Capacities of Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (SICAP-BADAC) program of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

Spearheaded by Municipal Local Government Operations Officer Helen E. Lacuesta, the said program was done in partnership with the local government of Pasil under the leadership of Alfredo Malannag Jr.

Punong Barangay, barangay councilors (kagawads) with their secretaries were gathered at the Municipal Covered Court at Amdalao, Guina-ang where they were equipped with the knowledge, skills, and attitude to effectively perform their duties and functions in the fight against illegal drugs.

Provincial Officer Rodelia Macad and Agent Samuel Poking of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) lectured on Barangay Drug Clearing Program and Dangerous Drugs Board Regulation No. 7 series of 2019 or the Consolidated Revised Rules Governing Access to Treatment and Rehabilitation Programs and Services.

Personnel from the said agency also discussed the “Balay Silangan,” a program that builds temporary shelters for drug offenders to reform them into self-sufficient and law-abiding members of society.

Meanwhile, the Municipal Health Office explained the Community-Based Drug Rehabilitation Program.

Further, the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office pointed interventions on the roles of BADAC on the aftercare and reintegration programs.

Lacuesta, in her Facebook post, expressed gratitude to PDEA-Kalinga, Pasil MHO, and MSWDO for sharing their expertise. She also thanked Mayor Malannag and Vice Mayor Theodoro Mosing for supporting their programs, especially in their campaign against illegal drugs.
